MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan Hygiene and Sanitation activities
Identify the most appropriate hygiene messages to be disseminated to target population based on the results of the applicable assessment healthy camp tools in the field.
Identify the needs of the informal settlements and the target beneficiaries based on field visits and conducted assessments.
Plan with the support of the Behavioral Change Coordinator the project’s common activities in order to ensure quality of World Vision’s WASH programs intervention.
Plan the activities and events based on Healthy Monitoring Camp Tool (HMCT) and on field observation
Develop and evaluate the necessary materials needed for a campaign/activity
Plan the distribution of hygiene items based on the defined needs of each informal settlement.
Plan WASH promotion initiatives appropriate to the context ensuring the technical and social aspects of water and sanitation programming are integrated.
Ensure work is carried out as per the community needs and project standards.
Plan the WASH technical assessments.
Set the weekly/monthly plan of all the field activities
Timing implementation of project interventions to the target beneficiaries,
Project progress is regularly and accurately reported to Behavioral Change Coordinator for decision making and accountability

Monitor Field Activities
Conduct Field visits and follow up on the HS promoters’ activities to ensure that deliverables are being met and to highlight areas of improvement
Ensure that the community mobilizers’ daily responsibilities are met
Observe the hygienic situation of the informal settlements and raise issues to coordinator

Handle community mobilization duties
Develop, with the Behavioral Change Coordinator, the WASH Focal Points monitoring tools and train the Hygiene Promoters on their use
Follow up on the identification process of the natural leaders: Community WASH Focal Points within the target communities.
Train the community mobilizers and WASH committees on hygiene topics that was previously developed
Active and effective Community WASH Focal Points (e.g. community mobilizers and WASH committees) are addressing the hygiene needs of their own communities.

Manage and Develop Staff
Shortlist and select Community Wash Focal Points from the available pool at ITS
Provide active and ongoing technical oversight to the HP
Review and approve daily reports submitted by the Hygiene promoters
Prepare monthly reports for the Hygiene coordinator
Track the “target achieved vs indicators” and adjust field activities accordingly
Manage the Hygiene Promoters’ performance and ensure optimization of subordinates’ potentials through coaching, on-the-job training, and capacity building.
Prepare and follow up on all issued PRFs abiding to the allocated budget line
Ensure that the project’s implementation is on track based on the implementation plan
Project progress is regularly and accurately reported to Project Manager for decision making and accountability

Perform other duties as required
Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally.
Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events.
Responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.
Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma (WASH related field preferred such as Public Health, Nursing, Teaching)
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role within an NGO context
- Previous experience in leading a team
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills (English & Arabic)
- Proven ability to build capacity of partners/ stakeholders through formal trainings and informal job shadowing and mentoring
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to cope and work under pressure.
- Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural and difficult / sensitive contexts.
- Ability to review and write reports
- Ability to manage data effectively
- Relevant Experience in relief project implementation or relevant experience in a job with transferable skills (e.g. nursing, teaching).
- Has strong knowledge of core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, as well as Children in Emergencies minimum standards.
- Has strong knowledge about WASH distribution

- Position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis situation, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
