Hygiene Promoter

MAJOR TASKS Raising awareness:      •Design hygiene promotion messages, activities, intervention processes and tools; •Arrange and deliver hygiene promotion sessions to targeted communities. •Implement hygiene promotion initiatives appropriate to the context ensuring the technical and social aspects of water and sanitation programming are integrated. •Educate people about key aspects of hygiene in a culturally appropriate manner • Ensure all work is carried out as per the community needs •take part in local, national or international campaigns to raise awareness about health risks resulting from poor hygienic practices Forging Relationships: •Forging relationships with people in the community in order to get the message across. •Develop trust, tolerance and co-operation among community members; •Mobilize, motivate and encourage potential leaders to talk to their fellow community members about good hygiene practices. Assessing Risks: •Identify and assess public hygiene risks and needs •Report areas of concern to the WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) Coordinator Networking: Collaborate with a number of other agencies, including local authorities and international aid workers during the implementation of water and sanitation programs. Reporting: •Provide weekly and monthly reports to WASH Coordinator on hygiene issues and program progress against work plan and program activities. •Document and share lessons learnt with the WASH Coordinator, local community members and local stakeholders
