Policy and Advocacy Coordinator - National Office (Mansourieh)

Responsibilities:

National Advocacy and Policy Influence (Development, Humanitarian, and Emergency contexts)

Analyze and maintain understanding of the social, political and economic context in Lebanon and provide ongoing, quarterly context analysis on national updates

Develop position papers and policy briefs used for lobbying purposes

Contribute to the development and implementation of WVL’s advocacy and office strategies especially in the field of Child Protection, child rights and governance.

Identify advocacy priorities and spaces for policy influence in emergencies

Develop Case studies and provide input for WV’s participation in international consultations or conferences

Ensure that children are at the center of WVL’s advocacy efforts

Represent WVL externally when needed

Technical and staff Support and Coordination with other teams

Monitor, analyse and communicate regularly with key staff about national updates in legislation and context changes

Engage frequently with the technical team and field teams for sector and operational updates and provide support with integration of advocacy considerations or context analysis into their planning

Liaise with the Child Protection & Advocacy coordinator and field teams to leverage on local-level initiatives

Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team team and provide input on the research being developed and use evidence from our programming and assessments for advocacy.

Engage with Grants Acquisition & Management team  to include advocacy input at the proposal stage

 Lead on advocacy reporting

Support in building the capacities of staff in advocacy

Supporting the implementation of global and national campaigns and advocacy priorities

Provide guidance on local-level advocacy initiatives.

Work jointly with the communications team on the development of campaign material and public engagement activities.

Maintain awareness amongst key staff of campaign messaging and objectives.

Engage in regional meetings or calls around campaigns and global responses which Lebanon is involved in.

Perform other duties as required

Attend Program and MEAL related meetings within WVL, and with the sector, donors, and local authorities as needed.

Attend and participate in capacity building trainings locally and internationally.

Attend and participate in WVL’s spiritual nurture and other organizational events.

Act responsible of own security and actively contribute to a positive security culture.

Report Child Protection (CP) incidents as per the safeguarding policy guidelines.

Abide by the security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line manager and / or security manager.

Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

 

Requirements:

Minimum 2-3 years of experience working in advocacy within the Lebanese civil society.

Experience in coordinating work between different stakeholders

Ability to cope with working in a dynamic and changing environment.

Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context.

Must be able to represent World Vision to major program stakeholders and donors in a highly professional manner, in person and in writing.

Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Bachelor's degree in international affairs, public health, law or other social sciences majors.

Experience in planning and implementing advocacy campaigns and engaging with various audiences and coordinating projects with other local NGOs is preferred.

Experience in organizing events with Civil society and engaging in public campaigns.

Good knowledge of human rights/child rights particularly in the Lebanese context

Good knowledge of child rights and development discourse

Can identify major stakeholders involved in child wellbeing matters in the country.
