Protection Officer

Main Responsibilities 1. Provide technical oversight and advise on protection and child protection issues related to the Syrian refugee response and identify appropriate responses (advocacy, protection mainstreaming, stand alone protection projects etc). 2. Coordinate with other World Vision technical specialists, project managers/coordinators and advocacy staff to ensure protection and child protection is mainstreamed in response and advocacy activities including monitoring and evaluation frameworks. 3. Capacity building activities including basic protection training for World Vision staff , both development and emergency, develop contextualised information, education and communication materials on protection and child protection, protection monitoring tools for use by field staff. 4. Design protection/child protection projects and develop proposals in coordination with relevant program/project staff. 5. Ensure World Vision visibility in Protection and Education/Child Protection cluster and other coordination forums in Lebanon. 6. Closely monitor the political and conflict developments and advise response manager and operations director on appropriate response.   Key Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 1. Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or Law with a focus on human rights/family law – or other applicable field.  Masters degree strongly preferred. 2. Experience in training, analysis, advocacy and program design, monitoring and evaluation (focus on protection and displacement preferred). 3. Proven project management and capacity building experience. 4. Fluency in Arabic and English is required. 6. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, flexibility and a results oriented approach. 7. Minimum 3-5 years experience in protection fieldwork, preferably in Middle East context. 8. Strong working knowledge of the international legal frameworks for protection and the humanitarian system in general eg. the Cluster approach.
