MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate the implementation of research studies within WVL, and work closely with the ELA team, Technical Specialists, Operations team, Support Offices, External Engagement, RAM unit and Global Center for information needed to finalize the research plan

An effective research plan is designed and requirements of stakeholders are met

Draft research design documents or Terms of References, including detailed methodological and analysis plan sections, while taking into consideration relevant information from key stakeholders

High quality research design documents or ToRs are in place for evidence building and learning

Guide the key stakeholders in outlining a research agenda and timeline for the research topic of interest

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Master’s Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Research Design, Social Science, Data Management, Information Management, Public Health, or any relevant professional qualification.
2. Proficiency in the use of statistical packages for higher-level statistical analysis, such as SPSS, STATA, EPI-Info, CS-Pro, etc.
3. Excellent knowledge about research theories, principles, standards and models, statistical definitions, quantitative/qualitative/mixed methods, validity and reliability testing of data, and scientific tools and techniques.
4. Experience in analyzing qualitative and quantitative approaches to baselines, monitoring and evaluations.
5. Excellent knowledge of information presentation techniques (graphing, charting, tabling etc.), data processing and analysis, and interpretation skills.
6. Demonstrated experience in developing data collection tools (e.g. questionnaires, focus group discussions, key informant interviews, etc.).
7. Demonstrable understanding of concepts and application in organizational learning and knowledge management
8. Proven ability to lead and work effectively with others to achieve results, with strong skills for working in teams.
9. Strong conceptual and analytical skills for planning.
10. Excellent report writing and information dissemination skills.
11. Excellent written English, with good command of spoken Arabic and English.
12. Experience in training and facilitation.
13. Good knowledge of and experience with humanitarian guidelines and principles.
14. Ability to work effectively under pressure.
15. Organization, planning, and time management skills.
16. Detailed oriented and able to verify data quality.
17. Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in the area of M&E, research, statistics and statistical inference methods, and data analysis and interpretation
18. Valid driving license (in Lebanon) for more than 2 years is required.
19. Excellent written English, with fluency in speaking Arabic and English.
20. Ability to write excellent quality reports in English is required.
21. Knowledge of ODK database/SMAP server
22. Good contextual knowledge of local community and social/cultural constraints, realities and organizational relationships for effective project design and implementation
23. Understands fundraising, relief, development and advocacy issues, including operational consequences
24. Understands international standards in humanitarian protection and accountability (e.g. HAP, SPHERE, Red Cross, Code of Conduct, etc)
25. The position requires 80% of the time to be office based.
26. The position requires ability and willingness to travel locally to different field offices as per the need (up to 20% of the time).
27. The position requires willingness and ability to continue to function during a crisis, including during a World Vision response to a manmade or natural disaster.
28. The position requires availability and willingness to work outside regular office hours occasionally.
29. The position requires ability to attend and participate in capacity building opportunities, trainings and meetings locally and internationally as required by the organization.
