Call for Consultancy: Freelance Proposal Writer/Developer

1. Overview of the Role:

Youssef Tabsh Foundation seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Freelance Proposal Writer/Developer to support our resource mobilization efforts. The consultant will be responsible for researching funding opportunities and developing compelling, high-quality project proposals tailored to specific donor requirements. This is a remote, flexible role ideal for an individual in their early career (20s to early 30s) looking to contribute to the social impact sector in Lebanon. The consultant will work closely with the program and management teams to craft proposals that align with the organization's mission and strategic objectives.  

2. Key Responsibilities:

The core responsibilities include:

  1. Funding Opportunity Research: Identify and assess relevant funding opportunities from institutional donors, foundations, and other sources aligned with the NGO's thematic areas.
  2. Proposal Development: Lead the writing and compilation of grant proposals, concept notes, and expressions of interest, ensuring alignment with donor guidelines and priorities. This involves drafting narratives, log frames, budgets (in collaboration with finance teams), and annexes.
  3. Information Gathering & Coordination: Collaborate effectively with program managers, M&E staff, finance officers, and other relevant team members to gather necessary information and data for proposal development.
  4. Donor Liaison (potential): Assist in communication with potential donors for clarifications during the proposal development phase, if required.
  5. Quality Assurance: Ensure proposals are well-written, coherent, logically structured, and meet all submission requirements and deadlines. Edit and proofread documents for clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  6. Knowledge Management: Maintain records of submitted proposals, donor feedback, and related documentation.

3. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:

  • Writing Skills: Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English are essential. Proficiency in Arabic is a strong asset. Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and persuasive narratives.
  • Research Skills: Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information regarding funding opportunities, donor trends, and project contexts.
  • NGO Sector Understanding: Familiarity with the Lebanese NGO context, project cycle management, logical frameworks (logframes), and common donor requirements (e.g., UN agencies, EU, international foundations). Understanding of social impact work is crucial.  
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good communication and coordination skills for interacting with internal teams remotely.  
  • Tech Savviness: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with online collaboration tools.
  • Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is a plus (e.g., International Relations, Development Studies, English, Social Sciences, Communications). While considered a junior-to-intermediate role, 1-3 years of relevant experience in proposal writing, grant management, or a related field within the NGO sector is typically expected, though exceptional recent graduates with strong writing samples may be considered.
