During two full days, using participatory and reflective methods, we will look at ourselves and our own experiences to see how they have shaped us as journalistic and civil society actors. This way, we will find ways to do better documentation and reporting on the topic of migration.

ARC is a regional non-profit independent organization founded in 1988. It adopts a holistic and integrated approach to development and practices collective work through consultation, networking, and partnerships.

This session will introduce the open source, free platform KoboToolbox (www.kobotoolbox.org) which can be used for online and offline data collection. Kobo ToolBox is built on ODK (Open Data Kit), a suite of tools that allows data collection using mobile devices and data submission to an online server, even without an Internet connection or mobile carrier service at the time of data collection.

This course covers monitoring and evaluation theory (including needs assessment, program theory assessment, evaluating the processes of a social and development initiative, outcomes assessment, impact assessment, and assessing the efficiency of a social initiative). The course also discusses the formulation of evaluation questions, data collection, analysis and reporting, and provides students with the opportunity to analyze case studies of actual assessments of initiatives carried out in the field. Engaging with other people can be confusing, even at the best of times where communication is largely through text, and can easily be misunderstood. So what etiquette should you use in email to make the recipient feel comfortable, and to make sure you look professional?

In this context, the main purpose of etiquette is to show consideration for others. It provides anchor points to prove you're on the same page, and at least have some mutual understanding. In other words, etiquette is a subtle way of building rapport.

Increasingly, it is being recognized that volunteering is a valuable resource and should be managed and supported as effectively as possible. By the end of this course, participants are expected to be able to; recruit and manage volunteers, develop policies and procedures for volunteers and identifying the volunteer motives, strengths and weaknesses.

 

The consociational system as well as kinship-based politics have not allowed circulation of political elites, limiting the entry and participation of newcomers and women to the political scene in Lebanon. The 2018 Lebanese parliamentary elections are scheduled to take place on 6 May after nearly a decade since the last time they were held.
