The event aimed to bring joy and comfort to the elderly during the holy month of Ramadan. The organization prepared a delicious dinner, including salads and desserts, to be distributed to all the elderly residents at Dar El Aajaza. This event provided an opportunity for the elderly to socialize and enjoy a special meal.
Under the patronage of Dr. Joe Salloum, president of the order of pharmacists and on the occasion of its fourth anniversary, the Lebanese Club of Visual Artists (CAPL) is organising its next exhibition at the CAPL Art Center.
Lebanon of Tomorrow organized a three-day-back-to-school event that provided essential support to children in the community. The event included the distribution of free school bags and stationary kits to help kids start the school year with the necessary tools. Additionally, the organization offered free medical tests, including eye exams, to ensure that the children were in good health before heading back to school.
The first session of this webinar cycle will present and discuss the research of Dr. Leyla Dakhli on the “Bread Riots” that broke out in Tunisia on 28 December 1983, in the wake of World Bank-sponsored programmes. This movement lasted barely ten days, yet cost the lives of over one hundred people. The research explains how the inhabitants in popular neighborhoods reacted to the establishment of a new form of welfare state that was more concerned with fighting poverty – or fighting the poor – than with equalizing conditions or offering the same opportunities for everyone. Dr Dakhli will discuss...
As part of CeSSRA’s research programme on social justice, this introductory webinar aims at providing an overview of the main challenges faced today on several levels as well as by several actors in addition to the required policy reforms and approaches.
The webinar will critically discuss how the scattered contributory-based and ad hoc system, provides social assistance along identity, class, political, and ethnic lines giving way for exclusionary mechanisms.
Lastly the session will explore how to shift from a charity-based approach to a citizen-based approach. The discussion will then...
The Wide Awake Art Contest, an open call to Lebanese and Tunisian artists as well as artists living in Lebanon or Tunisia to explore the theme “The Sound of Dissent.” The contest will showcase works by those who are documenting and memorializing their communities’ stories in times of instability, resistance, and change.
By shedding a light on the forms and trajectories of social contention in Morocco and Jordan after 2011, this webinar aims at scrutinizing how the ‘return to the social question’ can help us to better understand the profound changes which have been crossing Arab societies in the past decade.
