This webinar is to present the research conducted by Nadim Haidar between february and november 2022 in the framework of the centre’s Social Justice Fellowship Programme. Lebanon of Tomorrow organized a three-day-back-to-school event that provided essential support to children in the community. The event included the distribution of free school bags and stationary kits to help kids start the school year with the necessary tools. Additionally, the organization offered free medical tests, including eye exams, to ensure that the children were in good health before heading back to school.

By bringing back the social question at the center of the analysis, this third seminar aims at providing an overview of the old and new social tensions that are currently crossing the Tunisian and Egyptian societies. By shedding a light on the forms and trajectories of social contention in Morocco and Jordan after 2011, this webinar aims at scrutinizing how the ‘return to the social question’ can help us to better understand the profound changes which have been crossing Arab societies in the past decade.

During this roundtable, Dr. Michele Scala will present the Centre for Social Sciences Research & Action ongoing work on social protection in Lebanon, analysing the articulation of intersectional discriminations and privileges of the current social protection framework, and proposing ways forward for reform. Participants will be invited to discuss the findings and share their insights.
