Country Manager - Syria/jordan

Role The Country Manager is responsible for leading the implementation and development of Aktis’ Syria and Jordan portfolio. This involves three specific work streams: Management of the new Aktis Jordan Office, including the professional and technical development of the Jordan team and some staff working on Syria projects in the region. Business Development (BD) leadership to identify, manage and deliver the conversion of project opportunities into contracted work in Jordan and Syria. Management and oversight of contracted institutional development and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) projects in Syria and Jordan. The Country Manager must have demonstrable management, organisational and interpersonal skills, a track-record delivering projects in conflict environments, and an entrepreneurial mindset. The CM will interact and communicate with clients, partners and technical associates and support the expansion of our project portfolio. #   Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will: Work closely with Project Teams to ensure client delivery plans are up-to-date and on track, to translate strategies into clear operational plans, and provide surge capacity on projects where needed. Ensure that projects are delivered on time and to quality, and that clients are satisfied against Aktis metrics. Ensure that our internal subject-matter experts are brought into projects to provide technical advice on project delivery. Oversee project and office financial management (budgeting and financial reports), procurement, expenditure and risk management. Manage and oversee the BD budget and operational expenditures.  Build and maintain relationships with a broad range of project stakeholders within the Jordanian government and broader donor community. Lead stakeholder mapping, lead and oversee reports to a range of stakeholders. Broaden Aktis’s relationship with other donors and potential clients; maintain an up-to-date record of client plans and interests.   Requirements The successful candidate will have: Minimum Master’s Degree in International Development, Humanities, Politics, Law, Business Management, Commerce, Medicine, Science, engineering or Project Management gained from a qualified university. Minimum of eight years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in development, research, law, management consultancy, civil service, banking, defence or equivalent; of these three (3) years must be in the international development sector. A solid track record generating new business, expanding client relationships and working with a variety of stakeholders, preferably in the Middle East region Preference will be given to candidates with an existing right to work in Jordan.
