Accountant –  North Lebanon Job Description   Job Classification: Accountant Reports To:                           Director of Finance and Administration Location:                               Beirut, Lebanon Closing Date:                          The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence against Women (LECORVAW) (www.lebanesewomen.org) has been established for more than ten years and has been combating violence against women through various strategies, from psychosocial and socio-economic services to awareness raising, advocacy and direct lobbying. LECORVAW now operates one center in Beirut and one in Tripoli.                  In partnership with Heartland Alliance, LECORVAW is in the process of launching a safe women space that provides holistic services focusing on psychosocial support, violence prevention, livelihoods strengthening and social cohesion to diverse vulnerable populations affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, including women and girls, and survivors of Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV), torture and trauma.     Summary: The Accountant is responsible for performing accounting systems and procedures such as cash management, keeping financial records of project-related expenses, making payments on time and ensuring the best use of available project funds. S/he will work on identifying, recording, classifying, reporting, explaining, interpreting and verifying financial paperwork. The Accountant will report directly to the Center Coordinators and Heartland Alliance   Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   Submitting financial reports, original receipts, bank statements, timesheets, PR & PO, and their scanned copies to our donors within required deadlines and by budget lines as per donor agreement requirements Ensure bank statement is on par with the financial reports to be submitted to our donors Organize all hard copy payment vouchers, petty cash vouchers, receipts, timesheets, quotations, purchase orders and submit to our donor within the deadlines and by budget lines Administer day-to-day administrative activities and planning of program and budget Supervise the petty cash of all the Centers and ensure that they are kept in accordance with our donors requirements Keep updated records of administrative activities and institutional documents Record/Scan receipts and support data entry of expenditures in Excel as needed; Compiling and analyzing financial information Ensuring efficient maintenance of financial records Resolving any accounting irregularities Managing and supporting of the budget of the project Visit the different safe spaces to verify financial reports, collect original receipts, cross check accurateness and fix any errors; Support staff as needed on appropriate financial procedures per donor agreement requirements; Conduct inventory checks on supplies purchased on the award as requested; Identify and implement new systems to improve reporting processes as needed; Report immediately any litigious / suspicious voucher / receipt / documents Report to our donors and support other tasks, as requested. Preparing and coordinating the auditing process     Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience working with international donors strongly preferred. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Language Skills:  Must have written and spoken fluency in English and Arabic or French. Communication Skills: Listens and gets clarification, responds well to questions and feedback, participates in meetings, effectively communicate utilizing a variety of technologies such as phone or video phone (i.e. Skype), writes clearly and informatively, and edits work for spelling and grammar. A lot of patience is required to listen to various confessions. Computer Skills:  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange; Windows operating systems; and other software routinely used by Heartland Alliance. Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
