Union of Journalists in Lebanon

About

The Union of Journalists in Lebanon emerged from the October 17 Uprising, which called for a secular system grounded in social justice and public freedoms, foremost among them freedom of the press. The UJL was founded in response to the absence of effective union representation to protect journalists’ rights, whether in the workplace, during field coverage, particularly in protests and confrontations with security forces and affiliated groups, or against prosecution by political authorities for expressing opinions or exposing corruption and exploitative practices.
