Conflict, economic decline and climatic shocks continue to erode the resilience of rural communities in Yemen. Many rural households have lost their productive capacities due to displacement, the collapse of agricultural infrastructure, limited access to inputs and services and the fragmentation of agrifood systems.

The latest FAO-WFP Hunger Hotspots early warning report categorized Yemen among the countries of “highest concern” requiring urgent humanitarian response. In October 2025**, adequate food remained inaccessible for 63% of surveyed households in Yemen**

Yemen’s third dekad of November 2025 is expected to be cooler and drier as the country transitions into the winter season. Temperatures will be near or slightly above average, with very cold nights in the highlands that may persist over the coming weeks.

As of 20 November, UNHCR estimates that 1,246,037 individuals have returned to Syria from other countries since 8 December 2024. As of 13 November, 1,944,762 internally displaced persons (IDPs) are estimated to have returned to their areas of origin, of whom 1,062,229 departed from IDP sites in northwest and northeast Syria.

2025 has brought unprecedented challenges to Yemen. Drastic funding cuts have forced aid agencies to scale back many life-saving programmes. Seasonal floods have once again devastated communities, sweeping away people’s homes and belongings.

In October 2025, Yemen saw a significant drop in rainfall, with only isolated showers in the western highlands, where the highest recorded total was about 84 mm in Al Hudaydah.

As of 6 November, 1,208,802 Syrian individuals have crossed back to Syria from other countries since 8 December 2024. Most returnees are coming from Türkiye, followed by Lebanon and Jordan, with smaller numbers from Iraq, Egypt and beyond the region.

With generous funding from the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), the World Health Organization (WHO) is launching a new project to strengthen the energy resilience of Yemen’s health sector through the installation of solar energy systems and battery storage in 6 health facilities across the country.

This summary presents the findings of the third round of area assessment (Mobility Tracking) undertaken by IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix in its new format to establish a new baseline on the number of Internally Displaced persons (IDPs), IDP returnees and migrants in Yemen.
