Hurricane Melissa, one of the most powerful storms ever recorded in the Atlantic, hit southwestern Jamaica on 28 October as a Category 5 system—the worst hurricane to hit the area since 1988—before crossing into eastern Cuba as a Category 3 the following day.

More than 2,000 people have been displaced following the armed attack carried out on 18 September by members of armed groups against the commune of Bassin-Bleu, in the Nord-Ouest department, according to the Departmental Directorate of Civil Protection.
During the night of 16–17 September 2025, heavy rains fell across most communes of the Nord-Ouest department, causing the Trois-Rivières River in Port-de-Paix to overflow suddenly. The floods resulted in extensive inundations across several neighborhoods in Port-de-Paix and Bassin-Bleu.
Nationally, over 6.9 million (over 4.7 million in Punjab, 171,000 people in Sindh, 1.6 million in KP and 356,000 in GB provinces) people were affected by floods since 26 June.
40,000 people are in urgent need of assistance in Muzaffargarh District of Punjab Province, where many people remain on rooftops and trees awaiting rescue. District authorities have called for tents, food, hygiene kits, and medical support.
In collaboration with the Departmental Directorate of Civil Protection-Artibonite (DDPC-A), as of 19 July, IOM reported 14,885 displaced persons (3,425 households) across the communes of Dessalines (11,857 IDPs), Saint-Michel (1,757 IDPs), Gonaïves (225 IDPs), and Verrettes (941 IDPs). All displaced people are currently staying with host families.
The number of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Haiti reached an all-time high, with nearly 1.3 million displaced as of 10 June, according to IOM’s latest Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).

BEIRUT – The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an emergency operation to provide food assistance for up to one million people affected by the recent escalation of the conflict in Lebanon. The agency is distributing ready-to-eat food rations, bread, hot meals and food parcels to families in shelters across the country.
Islamic Relief teams in Beirut have today been distributing emergency aid as thousands more families flee their homes amid the unprecedented escalation in Israeli bombing in the Lebanese capital.
COOPI – Cooperazione Internazionale, which has been active in Lebanon since 2013, is intervening to bring immediate aid assistance to all those who have fled with nothing. Our humanitarian workers are working in the vocational training centre in Siblin, Saida Governorate, and in two schools in Nahr Al Bared, Tripoli Governorate, used as collective shelters. Here we have already welcomed 750 people for whom, thanks to the setting up of two mobile kitchens, we are guaranteeing two meals a day. But the situation is critical. Since 20 September, Lebanon has been experiencing the effects of a dramatic escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. This wave of violence is taking its toll on Lebanese civilians and as of today there are 104,000 newly displaced people, in addition to the 110,000 who have fled the south of the country in the last 11 months. Our teams are working right now to bring urgent aid to the population in distress.

UNRWA declared the activation of its Emergency Response in Lebanon on 24 September 2024, immediately opening two emergency shelters. Between 25 September and 27 September, UNRWA has opened five additional emergency shelters, bringing the total number of operational UNRWA emergency shelters to seven.
It’s been almost a year since the war on Lebanon started in absolute silence from the international community.
The last two weeks however have witnessed a horrific increase in violence, with so far and according to the latest figures, 690 deaths, including 50 children and 94 women, in addition to 2316 injured, and more than 111,700 individuals displaced.
With more than 550 people, including 50 children, killed and 1,800 wounded following escalating bombardment in Lebanon, Action Against Hunger is broadening its humanitarian aid efforts.
