BLN Teacher (Lebanese Nationals Only)

Work Context:

Sonbola is a startup grassroots NGO that focuses on delivering educational programs, specifically to fill

the gaps of Syria’s education crisis and address the education of Syrian refugee children and youth, with

a special focus on quality and sustainability.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provide effective teaching in basic literacy and numeracy to out of school children in agreed upon locations. 
• Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning using interactive teaching approaches.

• Implement innovative, play-based, child–centered teaching methods to engage children.  
•  Evaluate students' academic development, keep appropriate records, prepare progress reports, and communicate with Supervisor on the individual students' progress. Assess children’s learning progress using assessment tools as provided by Sonbola. 
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching handouts and activity sheets prior to sessions where appropriate.
• Manage students' behavior in the classroom appropriately in accordance with the center's and program's rules.
• Attend departmental meetings, donor meetings, workshops, and training sessions during and outside working hour.

Job Requirements:   

• BA in Education, teaching diploma or certificate in related fields
• Experience teaching classes to children
• Experience with extremely vulnerable children is a plus
• Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children.
• Able tohandle pressure well and work in cross-cultural setting. 
• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.
