Human aid and Development

As a local non-governmental organization in Lebanon, HAND is committed to supporting the most vulnerable and disadvantaged households. Our mission is to deliver sustainable solutions in education, food security, shelter, and hygiene, fostering resilience, dignity, and hope within our local communities.

Objectives

Education

• To provide access to quality education for Syrian refugee children and children from low-income Lebanese households in Lebanon.
• To support local schools and community learning centers, offering formal and non-formal education, including remedial classes and vocational training.
• To promote a safe and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive, regardless of background or circumstances.

Child protection

• Implement a holistic approach that combines protection, education, and psychosocial support to build a strong generation capable of facing challenges and realizing its full potential.
• Promote the belief that investing in children's well-being today guarantees a better future for both the children and society.
• Involve families and communities in the child protection journey, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness and fostering shared responsibility.
• Ensure that child protection is a fundamental aspect of all projects, prioritizing the safety and well-being of children in all activities and programs.
• Embed child protection principles in every phase of project development—from design to implementation and evaluation—creating a safe and supportive environment for children.

Food Security

• To distribute food parcels to vulnerable families, with a particular focus during Ramadan and other times of increased need, to alleviate hunger and malnutrition in our local communities.
• To engage local community members in food security initiatives that promote sustainable practices, community gardens, and nutritional awareness.

Shelter and WASH

• To provide shelter assistance to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese families, focusing on shelter kits, home rehabilitation, and rental support.
• To improve access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services within local communities to enhance health and well-being.

Community Development and Resilience

• To strengthen community resilience by fostering local capacity building, empowerment, and participation in development activities.
• To implement programs that bridge immediate humanitarian needs with long-term development goals, ensuring sustainable and impactful change.
