The Union of Tyre municipalities council has approved the establishment of a Risk Management Unit under the name of Rapid Response Unit funded by the Swiss Embassy since 2010.
A study by the Swiss embassy was conducted to analyze the readiness in the Union, and the study identifies series of vulnerabilities in terms of DRR in Tyre CAZA, which prompted the Swiss embassy to develop a plan composed of 3 phases to address those vulnerabilities and to mitigate their effects.
Two phases have been completed and currently we’re in the third phase.
Rapid Response Unit main Goals is to:
Reduce the impact of all kind of disasters in Tyre region and strengthening the rapid response
Strengthening the capacity of the community and developing a strategic and sustainable program for disaster management and risk reduction
It was established that one of the requirements of closing the third phase is to spread awareness for school students all over the region.
