About

The Alawite Islamic Charity Association (AICA), is an NGO/FBO located in Lebanon, registered under the decree No. 4500/1950, was founded year 1950 in order to claim the rights of communities through development and social projects as well as health care and medical services.

Its projects and activities aim to mitigate all forms of discrimination towards civil rights access (medical, health, education, work opportunities, or any other additional required support), raise individual and collective awareness, mainstream protection and disseminate risks prevention.

The intervention strategy consists of a holistic approach within development, advocacy and resilience as well as relief and emergency response action.

Since 1950, AICA has created several institutions and locations in order to ensure specific programs/activities responding to vulnerable communities and individuals’ needs, such as:

� Alzahraa Medical Center

� House of Wisdom Community Kitchen

� The Social Hall

� Aldouha Scientific School

� Mosque of Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (as)

� Mosque of Fatima Zahra (as)

� AICA's Social Services Community Center

� Netizens' Digital Lab

Vision: AICA adapts a humanitarian response action, development and benevolence, targeting the whole community through the adoption of an integrated global ecosystem approach based on Human Rights. AICA ensures coverage of needs related to basic rights without any discrimination through access to services & advocacy, with a horizontal axe of action. AICA takes action through community participation, youth-led initiatives, builds bridges through culture and dialogue, as well as encourages partnership & community initiatives through development & peacebuilding, whilst transforming challenges into opportunities, and conflicts to Peace

Main Goal: Standing by the 17 SDGs, AICA intends to lead a global networking through faith in potentials, creating opportunities, reinforcing positive social values, resources management, strategic partnerships and community development to achieve a better & more sustainable future

Mission: AICA empowers vulnerable communities, through community development, advocacy & peace-building, and humanitarian response action to enjoy social justice.

Values: With reference to Human Rights Declaration Charter, & based on Imam Ali Bin Abi Taleb (as) values, AICA adopts principles considered fundamental to humanitarian actions:

Humanity : “Whatever is taken away from you will be replaced with something better.” Imam Ali (as)

Social Justice: “Justice is the base that supports the whole world.” Imam Ali (as)

Active Citizenship: “Work for a better Life as if you live forever, and work for better Ends as if you die tomorrow.” Imam Ali (as)

Partnership : “Understanding is what makes relationships.” Imam Ali (as)

Volunteering: “Don’t feel ashamed when giving little for charity, that is because there is always goodness in giving no matter how little.” Imam Ali (as)

Sustainability: “It is in the changing of circumstances in life that the essence of man is revealed.” Imam Ali (as)
