The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has delivered emergency assistance to over half a million people in Lebanon since the escalation of the conflict began.
Alongside ongoing programmes, WFP scaled up its emergency response, expanding food assistance to affected people outside shelters, reaching 488,200 people with food and/or cash assistance across shelters and communities, since the escalation of hostilities on 23 September 2024.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) welcomes a contribution of US$2 million from the people and the Government of Japan to support conflict-affected families across Lebanon, including refugees, and help them meet their urgent food needs in this challenging time.

As the conflict intensifies and humanitarian needs rise, WFP scaled-up its emergency response, to reach 420,000 people across shelters and communities since 23 September, in addition to its regular programmes.
Rapid assessments and weekly price monitoring between mid-September 2024 and the first week of October 2024 indicate worsening shop functionality in conflict-affected areas and rising food prices across all regions.
One month into the ongoing escalations, WFP has rapidly responded to the growing needs of the affected people through food and/or cash assistance to 402,000 people across shelters and communities.
As the conflict intensifies and humanitarian needs arise, soon exacerbated by winter challenges, WFP urgently requires US$ 116 million by the end of the year to sustain its emergency operations.
BEIRUT – The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched an emergency operation to provide food assistance for up to one million people affected by the recent escalation of the conflict in Lebanon. The agency is distributing ready-to-eat food rations, bread, hot meals and food parcels to families in shelters across the country.
