In September 2025, around 61% of surveyed households in Yemen struggled to meet their minimum food needs, reflecting similar level as in the same period last year. The 2025 Global Hunger Index indicates that hunger remains alarming in Yemen, with available indicators pointing to deteriorating conditions and that the country is likely to fall into the “extremely alarming” category.

All governorates in Yemen remained above the “very high” threshold of ≥20% for poor food consumption, with peaks recorded in Al Bayda, Lahj, Raymah, Ad Dali’, and Al Jawf governorates (43%-48%). To cope...

South Sudan is facing overlapping crises, including rising violence, an economic downturn, and climate-related disasters. The crises are fueling food insecurity and malnutrition. The ongoing conflict in Sudan has exacerbated the dire situation, forcing over 1.2 million people into South Sudan.

Food insecurity remained alarmingly high in August 2025 despite a temporary respite of 8 percentage points, month on month, with 62% of households reporting inadequate food consumption, nearly the same level as August 2024.

August has brought much wetter conditions across the country, improving crop and pasture conditions but also increasing flood risk and leading to expansion of flood areas.

Lebanon remained in the grip of a worsening humanitarian crisis during the first half of 2025, driven by prolonged economic collapse, persistent conflict, and regional instability.
