As of 8 May 2025, UNHCR estimates that some 481,730 Syrians have crossed back to Syria via neighboring countries since 8 December 2024. This brings up the total of over 842,570 Syrian individuals that have returned to Syria since the beginning of 2024.
Since the fall of the former government on 8 December 2024 until the end of March 2025, some 372,000 Syrian refugees had returned to the country, while other refugees continue to express their intention to return home.
In 2024, UNHCR supported 31 community centers, including 20 Community Development Centers (CDCs) and 11 Social Development Centers (SDCs), across Lebanon. Through community centers, women, men, boys and girls of diverse backgrounds can access protection, social, legal, learning, and other services and activities.

New data by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has revealed that local communities in South Sudan are struggling to effectively integrate people fleeing the devastating war in Sudan – including Sudanese refugees and South Sudanese returnees – two years on.
This map is prepared using data from population movement reporting and border monitoring tool. It also includes the movements of Syrians who returned from Lebanon to Syria under duress following the escalation of hostilities on 23 September 2024, primarily through the border crossing points of Jdaidat Yabous, Al-Dabousiah, and Jousieh.
The hostilities in the Tartous, Lattakia, Homs, and Hama Governorates of Syria in early March continue to displace people into the North and Akkar Governorates of north Lebanon reaching now nearly 30,000 people with further arrivals expected.

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has provided shelter assistance to nearly 3,400 displaced families and distributed essential household items to 14,000 families across Yemen in 2024, thanks to the generous $7 million USD contribution from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief).
