Protection Officer

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Undertake Protection monitoring activities; Conduct interviews and missions to the field. Monitor, analyze and provide reports on the protection conditions for refugees and other persons of concerns.   2. Identify protection gaps and interventions; Review reports from the field. Guide/ advice and implement the appropriate projects to respond to protection concerns of asylum seekers and refugees   3. Organize/actively participate in the national and Regional Protection Working Group lead by UNHCR and other relevant meetings such child protection or SGBV meetings   4. Organize/facilitate relevant protection training activities when needed   5. Advocate with the government and other actors to take appropriate measure to remedy violations and address the protection concerns facing the returnees and refugees when requested by management     6. Provide support, guidance and assistance to protection and field staff in all the field offices on protection priorities, issues and concerns.   7. Perform other duties as may be required.   QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:   Qualifications: University degree in law or social sciences with experience / expertise in International law, and / or refugee law and other relevant studies.   Experience: Experience of working with refugees, NGOs   Competencies required:   General knowledge on the issue of refugees, UNHCR’s protection mandate. Inter-personal and communication skills With team work attitude. Excellent analytical and writing skills. Strategic planning, Monitoring and evaluation. Cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
