Job Purpose Summary
The ‘Technical Field Assistant – Tents’ is responsible for the erection of tents in his/her designated area. S/he oversees the labour teams erecting tents in that area, and ensures that their timesheets are correctly compiled and coordinates with finance for the payment of the labour. S/he ensures that tents are erected in line with the evolving site plan and in coordination with the social team. S/he issues a daily report related to the number of shelters erected that day.
Key Responsibilities
Technical activities
Ensure than shelters in the area of supervision are erected in line with the UNHCR site plan and given standards in terms of fire and road safety.
Ensure that the numbering system is executed as planned.
Report flood risk to shelters to PC and suggest technical solutions for mitigation.
Oversee the labour team in his/her area and ensure time sheets are correctly compiled.
Coordinate with finance for the payment of the labour team in his/her area.
Reporting activities
Daily report; number of tents erected and numbered.
To assist the TFO in liaison tasks when asked.
To perform other related duties as identified by the supervisor when requested
Support in Administrative work when needed
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Ordinary National Diploma / Technical in relevant field
Relevant Experience
Minimum 1 years of proven field experience in relevant discipline.

Good communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and team working skills
Good cultural awareness and sensitivity
Ability to work under pressure and stress
Willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
Able to establish and maintain a good professional working relationship with suppliers, contractors and inspection companies.
Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential
Very Good English Language level
Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
